Transhipment Machine Operator

Do you have experience with heavy machinery, do you enjoy working with powerful machines, and do you know how to move large quantities of material safely and accurately? Then we’re looking for you!

We are looking for a Transhipment Machine Operator. In this role, you will be responsible for operating the handling machine safely and efficiently, and for ensuring that materials are loaded, unloaded and moved correctly.

You work with heavy machinery on a daily basis and are a key link in the logistics process. You maintain an overview, work with precision and ensure that the work is carried out safely and efficiently.

No two days are the same. You’ll be working independently on the machine, whilst also liaising closely with drivers, machine operators and other colleagues. Together, you’ll ensure that the work is carried out properly and on schedule.

What are you going to do?

• Operating the transhipment machine.
• Loading, unloading, sorting and moving various materials.
• Loading and unloading lorries and other equipment.
• Careful and efficient positioning of materials.
• Check the transhipment machine every day.
• Carrying out minor day-to-day maintenance and promptly identifying any technical issues or faults.
• Working together and coordinating with drivers, train drivers and colleagues.
• Ensuring a safe, tidy and organised working environment.
• Handle the machine and other equipment responsibly and with care.

What are you bringing with you?

• Ideally, you will have demonstrable experience as an operator of a transhipment machine or similar large-scale machinery.
• You have technical insight and an affinity for heavy machinery.
• You work safely, accurately and responsibly.
• You have a good overview and are able to work independently.
• You’re flexible and know how to get things done.
• You enjoy working outdoors and with heavy machinery.
• A VCA certificate is an advantage, or you must be willing to obtain one.
• Relevant certificates for operating machinery are an advantage.

We consider experience with heavy machinery to be important for this role. We are looking for someone who understands what is involved in working safely and professionally with heavy machinery.
